Caitlin Sullivan

Caitlin Sullivan is a cellist, curator, and educator based in New York City. A longtime member of The Knights and substitute with the New York Philharmonic, she has played an extensive selection of classical and contemporary orchestral repertoire in Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, and has performed in multiple tours through the US, Europe, and Asia with these ensembles. As an alum of Ensemble Connect and Decoda, Caitlin has toured a wide range of chamber music throughout the US, UK, South Africa, Mexico, Japan, and South Korea. She also curated multi-media chamber music performances “Line and Expression” and “Musical Portraits” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and co-designed interactive performances in K-12 schools and universities in cities including Chattanooga, TN, Camden, SC, Las Vegas, NV, Buffalo and Rochester, NY.

As the Artist Leader of Education Programming for The Knights, Caitlin has designed and hosted family concerts or educational events at the Clark Art Institute, Museum of Art and Design, Lighthouse Works on Fishers Island, Wethersfield Estate, and Music Haven in New Haven, CT. She has also led multiple interactive family concerts at the Queens Theater and Brooklyn Children’s Museum as part of the WQXR Kids Fair.


Caitlin released her solo debut album, A Page From, in 2019 with New Amsterdam, which features new works written for her by composers Gabriel Kahane, Mary Kouyoumdjian, and Nicholas Britell. A frequent collaborator with her husband, film composer Nicholas Britell, Caitlin’s playing has been featured on several of his film and TV scores including “If Beale Street Could Talk,”“Succession” and “She Said.”
