Favorite Knights moment: One of my favorite memories of the group is the first moments of sound I heard when walking through the door to my first Knights rehearsal—I'd arrived late and they'd already begun playing the Tchaikovsky Serenade. The richness of the strings and the energy in the room gave me chills, and it was an instant of knowing life was going to change a little bit....

Based in NYC from 2004 to 2009, Amie performed with The Knights, the Caravel Quartet (with fellow Knights Miranda Sielaff, Kristi Helberg, and Jane Cords O'Hara), the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Group, and other groups—mostly chamber and new music ensembles, pop artists, and in collaborations with many traditional musicians from Asia. She also taught at the 92nd Street Y and privately.

In 2009, Amie moved to Barcelona to study early music at La Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya. Since then, she has worked with ensembles around Europe such as Spira Mirabilis (Italy), El Teatre Instrumental (Barcelona), New Century Baroque (France and UK), Café Zimmermann (France) and Nederlands Kammerorkest (Amsterdam). She also spent three months in Paris as a fellow in the program Résidences aux Récollets and another period in Germany teaching violin at the International School of Stuttgart. In 2011, Amie ventured a bit further, working for six months in the Palestinian Territories as a music teacher in cities, villages, and refugee camps throughout the West Bank with the Al Kamandjâti school. Subsequently, she joined the Chamber Orchestra of Valvivia, Chile (in Northern Patagonia) as principal 2nd violin and acting concertmaster until January 2012, which brought a return to Europe.

Amie studied at the Oberlin Conservatory with violinist Milan Vitek, during which time she also focused on Hindustani classical music, taking classes for four years with sitarist Hasu Patel.
